Apple’s newest version of the mobile operating system iOS 5 is finally here. Apple iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch users can update their devices’ software to iOS 5 using the free software update from Apple. Apple unveiled the new iOS 5 in early June this year.
The new iOS 5 has over 200 new features including iCloud, Notification Center, iMessage, Newsstand, Twitter Integration, and PC Free management of your iDevice. Announcing the new version iOS in the June press release, Steve Jobs said that
Perhaps iOS 5’s paramount feature is that it’s built to seamlessly work with iCloud in the Post PC revolution that Apple is leading.
How To Update Your iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch to the new iOS 5
You can update your iDevice to the new iOS 5, if your iDevice is iPhone 3Gs, iPhone 4, iPad, iPad 2, 3rd Gen iPod Touch, and 4th Gen iPod Touch. To get the free update, just connect your iDevice to your Mac or PC and start downloading using iTunes. If you have updated Apple iTunes in a while, updating the iTunes to the latest version is the first step. And yes make sure to back up your iDevice content before installing iOS. Just right click on your iDevice’s name in the iTunes to backup the content.
