Sprint launched a new eco friendly Android smartphone, Samsung Replenish for $49.99 with two year contract. The Samsung Replenish , the Android touch QWERTY device comes with three color options – Onyx Black, Arctic Blue and Raspberry Pink, and will be available from May 8 (except for Rasberry Pink version). Sprint is waiving the $10 monthly premium data add-on fee for Samsung Replenish to encourage customers make eco friendly choice.
Samsung Replenish: A Green Smartphone
Samsung Replenish is the fourth green smartphone from Sprint and makes Sprint the carrier in US with more eco friendly devices. About 35% of Samsung Replenish’s casing is made of recycled plastic content and 82% of the smartphone is made of recyclable materials. In addition to the smartphone, Sprint also unveiled a first ever solar charging battery cover for a smartphone.
Launching the green smartphone, Dan Hesse, Sprint CEO, said,
We want to make it as simple as we can for our customers to go green with a robust selection of products and competitive pricing. Samsung Replenish is as green as we could make it with more than 80 percent recyclable materials, housed in partially recycled plastics, energy efficient and built with fewer environmentally sensitive materials. As if this is not enough incentive, we are also lowering the monthly rate for this phone by $10 for new or existing customers so it pays for itself within just five months.
