FacebookGroup 300x264 Facebook Improves Facebook Groups and Unveils Send ButtonFacebook announced that it is adding new features to Facebook Groups to make it easier to share within a smaller set of your Facebook friends called Facebook Groups. And also Facebook unveiled a new send button to communicate with your Facebook group members. Last year, Facebook launched Facebook Groups to help you share with important groups in your life, your family, your high school friends, your basket ball team, and your gym friends.

With Facebook Group, anyone can create a group and group members can start using it immediately. Facebook said within six months of its launch Facebook users have created 50 million groups. To make it sharing within a group even better, Facebook announced new features to Groups.

Till now users can only post updates to Groups, but from now on users can post questions and polls to groups. Facebook says it is the best way to get quick responses to “What movie should we see?” and “When should we should hold our next soccer practice?”. Ina ddition, Facebook users can now upload entire albums not just individual photos. Facebook Groups owners also get a new control to approve other users before they are added to the group. If you are currently using Facebook Groups, Facebook will be sending info on how to upgrade to the new Facebook Groups soon.

Facebook Unveils Send Button

In addition to the new features to improve Groups, Facebook introduced Send button to share something you like to specific set of people. Explaining the need of Send button, Facebook says

Say you’re on Orbitz and want to tell your roommates about a great idea for a summer vacation, or you come across a Huffington Post article that you only want to share with people at work. With the new Send button, now you can share things with any of your Groups or individual friends on Facebook.

Facebook is first unveiling teh Send button on over 50 leading websites including, WSJ, Huffington Post, and Time.com. Facebook will be unveiling Send button to more sites soon.

  1. I believe Facebook is focusing more on user friendliness and to make things private within community & friends. This would also out burden “Share”& “like” buttons. However, this move by Facebook could be in response to the latest Google+1 service launched by Google.
