T-Mobile USA announced that it is bringing back Samsung Sidekick by upgrading it to the speed of 4G, T-Mobile Sidekick 4G. The new T-Mobile Sidekick 4G comes in two colors; matte black or pearl magenta. The new T-Mobile Sidekick is expected to available in the spring and it will be first offered to T-Mobile customers exclusively.
The Sidekick 4G smartphone is powered by Android 2.2 (Froyo) and 1 GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor. The new Sidekick 4G will have “stylish good looks and a killer keyboard” with its 3.5-inch display and the hallmark QWERTY keyboard. Also, it will be first Sidekick to have a touch screen and the QWERTY keyboard. It also features a VGA front-facing camera and is pre-loaded with T-Mobile Video Chat powered by Qik. T-Mobile also added that the new Sidekick 4G designed to work with T-Mobile’s HSPA + 4G and is capable of delivering theoretical peak download speeds of up to 21 Mbps.
The new Sidekick 4G comes with tonnes of messaging options and social netwrking features. Sidekick 4G is preloaded with Facebook and Twitter applications and one update their status from the notification pane and browse their feeds from right the home screen.
In addition, focusing on teen drivers behind the wheel, T-Mobile has come up with a new feature in Sidekick 4G called DriveSmart. Drivesmart Basic helps to focus on driving, by providing “automatic incoming call and message management, sending a customizable note to callers and senders, letting them know that the recipient is driving and will respond when it’s safe”. T-Mobile also has a more advanced DriveSmart Plus, which gets automatically activated when the phone is in a moving vehicle.
