The much anticipated iPad 2 is finally here. It is faster, it is thinner, and it can see! Apple unveiled the new faster, superior, and the next generation iPad 2 at today’s special iPad event in San Francisco. The new iPad 2 has the same 9.7-inch LED-backlit LCD, but it is 33% thinner and up to 15% lighter. The new iPad also features a new dual-core A5 processor, a more powerful graphics, and front and rear facing cameras. The front facing camera is a VGA camera for FaceTime and Photo Booth, and the rear-facing camera can 720p HD video. The new iPad 2 comes in two colors black and white, and will run on both Verizon and AT&T networks.
Apple launched the first iPad last April and it went on to become one of the most sought after Apple devices. Within 10 ten months of launching iPad, Apple sold 15 million iPads. Although a few tablets were launched to compete with iPad, even after a year of its launch, there is still no viable competitor on the similar price range. Apple claims that although the new iPad is lighter, thinner, and faster, it will have the same 10 hour battery life and a month standby time. In addition, iPad 2 comes with the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system, iOS 4.3.
Just like the original version of iPad, the new iPad 2 comes with either Wi-Fi or 3G and three different storage capabilities, 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB. Apple has not changed pricing structure, all new iPad 2 cost the same as the old version and will be available for shipping starting from March 11.

- $599 for the 32GB model,
- $699 for the 64GB model.

Unveiling iPad 2 Apple CEO Steve Jobs said
With more than 15 million iPads sold, iPad has defined an entirely new category of mobile devices. While others have been scrambling to copy the first generation iPad, we’re launching iPad 2, which moves the bar far ahead of the competition and will likely cause them to go back to the drawing boards yet again.
