Amazon wants to move your media hard drive into its cloud, so that you can access your media content from anywhere. Amazon announced that it is introducing a new cloud based service called Amazon Cloud Drive (www.amazon.com/clouddrive) to keep all your music in one place. In addition, Amazon also launched Amazon Cloud Player for Web, and Amazon Cloud Player for Android to play the music in your Cloud Drive from anywhere.
Amazon offers the Cloud Drive service free Cloud Drive space of 5 GB for its customers to store music. Amazon gives 20 GB space free if one buys any MP3 album from Amazon. Also, the music that users buy from Amazon does not count towards the storage quota. Amazon Cloud Drive offers a number of pais plans with up to 1000GB storage space. The additional Cloud Drive storage at Amazon costs
- 20 GB: $20.00 / year (less than $1.75 per month)
- 50 GB: $50.00 / year (less than $4.25 per month)
- 100 GB: $100.00 / year (less than $8.50 per month)
- 200 GB: $200.00 / year (less than $16.75 per month)
- 500 GB: $500.00 / year (less than $41.75 per month)
- 1000 GB: $1,000.00 / year (less than $83.50 per month)
Amazon Cloud Drive is safe and secure as the files are stored on Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3). And it is not just from Music. Amazon Cloud Drive allows customers to upload and store photos, videos and documents, as well and are readily available via web browser on any computer. Launching the Amazon Cloud Drive, Bill Carr, vice president of Movies and Music at Amazon, said
We’re excited to take this leap forward in the digital experience. The launch of Cloud Drive, Cloud Player for Web and Cloud Player for Android eliminates the need for constant software updates as well as the use of thumb drives and cables to move and manage music.
Our customers have told us they don’t want to download music to their work computers or phones because they find it hard to move music around to different devices. Now, whether at work, home, or on the go, customers can buy music from Amazon MP3, store it in the cloud and play it anywhere.
To play your music from anywhere, Amazon launched Cloud Players for Web and Android. With Cloud Player for web, all one needs to listen to their music is a web browser. Cloud Player for Web currently supports Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari for Mac, and Chrome. Cloud Player for Web lets customers easily manage their music with download and streaming options. Cloud Player for Android is the mobile version of Cloud Player and is bundled into the new version of the Amazon MP3 App.
