Swype announced that its 5th release of Swype Beta for Android is ready to be downoaded. Swype is a new way to enter text on your your smartphones without typing. Unlike traditional text entry method of typing, Swype lets users glide a finger across the virtual keyboard on smartphones to enter text.
The new update can support Double-Tap-to-Edit. For example, if Swype choose wrong word and one can easily correct it by tapping the word twice to bring up the word choice window. Then one can pick the correct word, and the cursor will return back to where it was before. Also, the new Swype Beta for Android has Voice-to-Text button for keyboard with QWERTY layouts. It requires that Google Voice Search is pre-integrated ROM.
The Swype beta version has built-in dictionaries for English, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese and French. In addition, it also has a a test-version of Chinese Pinyin.
Can I Install Swype Beta for Android in my Smartphone?
The Swype beta for Android can be installed on all Android phones which do not include Swype pre-installed by the phone manufacturer/carrier. In addition, one should be able to install 3rd party applications from non-Market sources. This would basically rule out AT&T users.
