iPhone Still the Most Desired Smartphone: Nielsen Wire Report

With Android growing at an enormous rate, The Niesen Company asked a simple question, Which is the “most desired” mobile operating system in US? The simple answer to the question is Apple iOS just toppled RIM as the top mobile platform and iPhone is the most desired smartphone.

Getting into the details what the survey found, as of October 2010, close to 30% of U.S. mobile users own a smartphone. Apple iPhone and RIM Blackberry, share the top spot with 27 percent of smartphone market share in the U.S. Android operating system is at the second position with 22%.

Out of the people planning to upgrade their smartphones, 30% desire Apple iOS and 28% desire Android OS.

28% of the current feature phone owners desire Android device and 25% desire Apple iOS. However, 25% of the feature phone owners who is planning to upgrade are undecided on what they want. Among the current smartphone owners who are like to upgrade to smartphone, 35% desire Apple iOS and 28% desire Android device.
