Google: Call Phones from Gmail for Free for Whole of 2011

gmail voice screenshot 300x217 Google: Call Phones from Gmail for Free for Whole of 2011As a holiday gift, Google announced that the Calling Phones (in U.S. and Canada) from Gmail will remain free for the whole of 2011. Google offered the call phones from Gmail feature in late August and said that it will be free till the end of the year. Now Gmail users in U.S. can enjoy the calling phones from Gmail feature for one more year.

In case if you have not tried this feature, visit http://www.google.com/chat/voice/. Google says

dialing a phone number works just like a regular phone. Look for “Call phone” at the top of your Gmail chat list and dial a number or enter a contact’s name.

In addition to the free feature, Google is also offering low cost plans to make international phone calls.

    hmm, I didnt realize they were planning on charging for calls at any point in time.. bummer. that busted my google bubble
