Facebook announced 2011 Hacker Cup, a multi-round programming competition for engineers around the world. Hackers are in the news for wrong reasons, but these hackers solve complex problems by coming up with interesting algorithms. Such hacking is part of Facebook culture and it is known for the hackathons organized by Facebook employees within Facebook.
Facebook Hacker cup is the first annual algorithmic programming contest with the prize money of $5,000 and the title of World Champion Hacker. Registration opens on December 20. Facebook said there will be three online rounds in the competition occurring in January 2011.
The final contest will be at Facebook headquarters in California for the top 25 hackers. And Yes, the top 25 hackers selected for the final round will paid for flight and accommodation.
In addition to the winner, Facebook will give $2,000 for the runner up and $1000 for the second runner up. The remaining 22 haceker will receive $100. Also, the top 300 hackers who come out of the second online round will receive awesome t-shirts.
