T-Mobile USA announced that it will offer three new Android smartphones; T-Mobile Comet, LG Optimus T with Google and Motorola DEFY with MOTOBLUR, at affordable price of less than $100. In addition, T-Mobile also launched low-cost data plans to go with the affordable phones.
T-Mobile said these new affordable Android devices and the low-cost plans are designed to “help families stay connected without busting their holiday budgets”. Announcing the new Android line-up and the low-cost plans, Cole Brodman, chief marketing officer, T-Mobile USA, said
We’re heading into this holiday season with our strongest and most affordable lineup ever of Android-powered smartphones. Combine that with low-cost data service plans and even easier ways to give T-Mobile products as gifts, and we believe families will make the move to smartphones — enriching how they communicate in the new year.” The new Android line-up is suitable for everyone in the family and ideal for first time smartphone users.
T-Mobile Comet: Free with 2 Year Contract
The T-Mobile Comet offers a compact form factor, 528 MHz processor, 2.8-inch full touch screen display and a 3.2 megapixel camera. Perfect for customers who are ready to make the affordable transition to their first smartphone, the T-Mobile Comet is also available for prepaid customers at less than $200 (plus taxes and fees), the lowest-priced 3G Android smartphone in the T-Mobile portfolio. The T-Mobile Comet is available in a black finish.
LG Optimus T: $29.99 with 2 Year Contract
The LG Optimus T is free with a new two year contract. It is an easy-to-use smartphone with 3.2-inch full touch screen display and a 3.2 megapixel camera with video capture. It is powered by a 600 MHz processor. It also features Google’s Voice Actions for Android, allowing customers to interact with the smartphone using voice actions. One can use Voice Actions to call, text, e-mail and navigate to a specific destination. The LG Optimus T is available in two flavors; burgundy and titanium finish. Its battery can last for 6.5 hours of talk time and 18 days of standby time.
Motorola DEFY: $99.99 with 2 Year Contract
Motorola DEFY is a ready to go phone for all occasions. It is slim and sits nicely in a pocket. Also, Motorola DEFY is water proof, scratch proof, and dust proof making it ideal for all seasons. It has a 3.7-inch full touch screen and a 5-megapixel camera with flash and video capture. It is powered by 800 MHz processor. Its lasting battery can provide up to 8 hours of talk time and up to 18 days of standby time. Motorola DEFY costs $99.99 with a new two year contract with T-Mobile. It costs $379.99 with no annual contract. The Motorola DEFY is available in a black and linen finish.
Motorola CHARM: $49.99 with 2 Year Contract
The Motorola CHARM with MOTOBLUR has a full QWERTY keyboard and a 2.8-inch touch screen with a BACKTRACK pad for easy navigation. It is powered by a 600 MHz processor. The Motorola CHARM comes in two flavors; golden bronze and cabernet finish. With a new two year contract with T-Mobile, Motorola CHARM costs $49.99 and costs $269.99 with no contract.
Low Cost Data Plans for Smartphones
In addition to affordable Android-powered smartphones, T-Mobile announced new low-cost data and will be available this holiday season. The two data plan options are 200MB plan for $10 per month with two year contract and $15 per month with no contract
Unlimited plan for $30 per month. T-Mobile is also offering tethering and Wi-Fi Sharing service plan. Customers can add the Tethering and Wi-Fi Sharing plan to their Web – Unlimited $30 monthly plan for an additional $14.99 per month.
