Facebook hopes that the new security features, one-time password and ability to log out remotely will help Facebook experience make more secure.

Facebook has been working hard to improve the security by adding new features regularly. Earlier this summer Facebook boosted its security features by adding the ability to register users’s devices and a notification feature if it finds any suspicious activity from a device not registered in with Facebook account.

Facebook One-Time Password

If you are using a public computer and don’t want to login using your regular Facebook password due to security concern, Facebook’s new feature will help you by issuing one-time password.

Facebook will text one-time password to your mobile immediately after one texts “otp” to 32665. The one-time password is valid only for 20 minutes and one needs to have the mobile number in Facebook account.

Log-out Facebook Account Remotely

Another much wanted feature Facebook introduced to beef up the Facebook security is remote log out. Now one can easily check whether you one has logged in from more than one devices and remotely sign out the sessions that are not in use. To see the current log in sessions, go to Account Security section in Account Settings. One will see the active sessions and the information about these sessions. Facebook added that

In the unlikely event that someone accesses your account without your permission, you can also shut down the unauthorized login before resetting your password and taking other steps to secure your account and computer.

Lastly, Facebook said that it will be regularly prompt users to keep their security information updated when they log in to Facebook. The security information helps Facebook to verify user’s identity and give back the account at the earliest, in case one loses his/her Facebook account. One can also update the security information at anytime by visiting http://www.facebook.com/update_security_info.php.
