Skype announced last week that it released second beta of Skype 5.0 for Windows that brings in lots of new features. One feature that stands out is that now one can make group video calls with up to 10 people. Yes, Skype video conference calls can support a party of 10 people. In addition, Skype 5 also gets a fresh look with an improvement in quality and becomes more stable during group calls.

Within three months Skype improved the group video conference support to up to 10 people. In order to make this work, everyone in the group video call needs to have the latest beta version of Skype 5.0 in Windows. One can upgrade his/her Skype to the latest beta version for Windows from here.

In addition, the new Skype gets a “refreshed user interface”. In its blog, Skype describes the new look as

You’ll notice that the new-look Skype is sleeker, neater and crisper than before, and we’re proud of the work our interface designers have done to refine and mature the interface for this version. We’ve also added Skype Home, where you can follow your contacts’ mood messages, set your profile picture and mood message, receive account notifications and learn more about using Skype.

Skype 5.0: More Stable and Gets Auto Recovery

The new Skype 5.0 also has better call quality during group video calls. By fixing a number of bugs that made Skype is more stable than before. Another nice feature that Skype has in the beta version of Skype 5.0 for Windows is automatic call recovery.  If a call is interrupted due to network problems, now Skype can automatically recover the call.
