Intel announced today that it will be acquiring Infineon’s Wireless devision for $1.4 billion. Infineon makes one of the chips necessary for smartphones like Apple iPhone.
If you are wondering, what does Apple Chief Steve Jobs thinks of Intel’s acquisition, here is the answer from Intel CEO Paul Otellini. In an interview to Fox news, when asked whether there was any reaction from Steve Jobs on the acquisition, Paul Otellini said
Steve was very happy. The industry was abuzz that this business unit was on the market, and there were a number of companies competing for it. I think they [Apple] are very happy that Intel won the bid.
