like Google and Facebooks Weekend Shopping RumorsFresh off buying Social Gold, Google is reportedly buying a company to boost its visual search for products. Techcrunch reports that Google is pretty close to finish a deal to acquire like.com.

Like.com with the tagline “Shop Visually” uses visual search technology to shopping. It focuses on visual search on things that really hard to describe in words. It was founded by Manjul Shaw and Burak Gokturk in August 2004. TechCrunch reports that the deal is worth above $100 million. It is interesting to note that Manjul Shaw’s previous company Riya was pretty close to be acquired by Google in 2005.

Facebook to Acquire Chai Labs

logo new Google and Facebooks Weekend Shopping RumorsAll Things Digital’s BoomTown today reported acquistion news involving Facebook. In its exclusive report, BoomTown revealed that Facebook has bought a small startup Chai Labs. Chai Labs is founded by an ex-Googler Gokul Rajaram.

Chai Labs’ website says that it offers technology platform that helps web publishes to create, customize, launch scalable. search-friendly web-sites in a number of verticals. Chai Labs’ customers include NBC local, Associated Content, and Travel Ad Network. Although BoomTown could not confirm the price, it said the deal is likely to be worth $10 million.
