Sprint is selling HTC EVO 4G, America’s first 3G/4G phone starting today. Sprint is selling HTC EVO 4G from its online store as well as from Sprint retail stores, Best Buy, RadioShack, and Walmart. HTC EVO 4G is loaded with a number of new features, including a large 4.3 inch screen, dual cameras (front and rear), and a 32GB MicroSD card slot. HTC EVO 4G is a Mobile Hotspot that can provide Wi-Fi connectivity for up to 8 Wi-Fi devices. It runs on Android 2.1 and has a HDMI output with which users can experience HD from the tiny mobile phone.
HTC EVO 4G with will be available with 4G connectivity in 36 cities across US. 4G refers to the fourth generation mobile wireless technology offering much faster wireless network when compared to 3G network. Sprint will be extending the 4G connectivity to 13 more cities in US in the near future.
What is the Cost of HTC EVO 4G?
Sprint HTC EVO 4G costs $199 after mail-in-rebate with two year contract. Sprint offers data plan starting from $79.99 per month with unlimited data, messaging and 450 minutes anytime talk time. The early termination fee for the Sprint contract is $200.00. HTC EVO 4G activation fee of $36 is waived if bought online. The mobile hotspot service that lets HTC EVO tether other devices costs an additional $29.99 per month.
How Fast is 4G Network?
In theory, a 4G network can support download speed of more than 10 Mbps compared 3G network’s speed of 3.1Mbps. However, the average download speed of Sprint 4G network is about 3-6Mbps (average download speed of 3G network is 600Kbps-1.4Mbps). Sprint explains that moving from 3G to 4G is like moving from DSL to a high-speed cable modem network connection.
