Skype is an amazing tool that one can’t live without these days. Skype helps us stay in touch with family and friends irrespective of where ever we are. However, often you might be a victim of receiving annoying calls or IM from spammers. Here are few simple tips to block these unwanted calls and stay safe on line.
How to Protect Yourself From Spammers in Skype?
To stop receiving the unwanted calls or IM in skype one has to change Skype account’s privacy settings. By default, Skype account lets you receive calls and IMs from any one. Yes, anyone even if he is a spammer. Here is how your default Skype privacy settings will look like.
One can easily access the privacy settings from “Skype/Privacy/Advanced Options”. In the advanced options for privacy settings choose the options
- Allow calls ”from people in my Contact list only”
- Allow IMs “from people in my Contact list only”
Also, make sure your Skype status is not visible to everyone in the world.
Warning
Another thing to remember to be safe online while using Skype is that the privacy setting holds only for the computer that you set and it does not stick to your Skype account. For example, if you set the privacy settings correctly in one computer, and use your Skype account from another computer, your safe privacy settings may not available from the other computer. You may have to manually check to see whether you are safe in the second computer as well. Skype has to really address this issue and fix it.
