Apple iAd Apple to Take on Google with iAd: A New Platform for Mobile AdsThe ad platform iAd will help bringing ads to the Apps in Apple’s devices; iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. Currently, ads in Apps work kind of similar to the way ads work in the web. Apple took a dig at them saying they are not good for Apps. Most often, users have to go out of their apps to a web browser, when users click on a mobile ad. Users also have trouble coming back to the Apps to continue what they were doing. Apple announced that iAd will fix this problem and further said

iAd solves this problem by displaying full-screen video and interactive ad content without ever leaving the app, and letting users return to their app anytime they choose. iPhone OS 4 lets developers easily embed iAd opportunities within their apps, and the ads are dynamically and wirelessly delivered to the device.

Steve Jobs said,  iAd is built right in iPhone and it will help the third party app developers to make money. The developers will get 60 percent of iAd revenue.

The new iPhone OS 4 software update will be available to the users of iPhone and iPod touch users this summer.  The iPad version of the OS 4 will be coming this Fall.

As of today, App users have downloaded more four billion apps from App Store and users spend a lot of time in the Apps.  By bringing right ads to the users, the advertises have a brand new avenue to offer targeted advertisements.   With the advertising platform iAd, Apple is potentially getting into a gold mine.
